The Project “Development of Ear, Nose and Throat centre in Bhutan” supported by Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) ended on 7 th December 2022 with the handing-taking ceremony of the medical equipment for ENT, JDWNRH. The Hon’ble Acting Secretary, Mr. Pemba Wangchuk, and the Director General of TICA presided over the event. Executives from Ministry, JDWNRH and Deputy Director General, DMS, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand and senior Thai officials attended.
The Project supported high-end medical equipment for ENT surgery and capacity building for ENT doctors, nurses, technicians, and Bio-medical engineers. The Hon’ble Acting Secretary highlighted the extraordinary and close friendship shared by the two countries. He stated that the Project would contribute to strengthening the ENT services in the country,
improving access to quality services and reducing referrals outside the country.
The Director General of TICA highlighted that combining the knowledge and skills gained from the training and the equipment will enhance health care service delivery for Bhutanese people. She added that although this Project ended, the Royal Thai Government will continue to support the Royal Government of Bhutan to promote the good health and well-being of the Bhutanese people.
