After launching the Health Flagship Project, Her Excellency Dasho Dechen Wangmo visited the site for the construction of the 65 bedded Mother and Child Hospital for eastern Bhutan.
Previously, the structure was the Royal Guest House which was then gifted by His Majesty to the people of Bhutan to be used as COVID-19 isolation ward. The same will soon be expanded with additional structures as per Green hospital concept for the future Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) in the east.
Since having a dedicated hospital for mother and child care has become a necessity for the Eastern population, it is evident that this MCH will provide equitable and quality mother and child health care services to the people without having to travel to the capital to avail the same services.
Objective:
- To improve mother and child care services in the Eastern region
- To build a health care facility with world class health care services which in houses different disciplines of specialist for the mother and child in the eastern Bhutan
- To build a hospital with sustainable design approach with an ideation to adapt with the existing building, natural vegetations, site terrain and climatic condition.
Towards evening, Lyonpo also met with the Mongar Dzongkhag COVID-19 Taskforce.
